As a lifelong resident of our community, it has been an honor to represent many of you for the last 7.5 years, first as a City Commissioner and now as Mayor of Bay City. It has not always been an easy job; but, even on the toughest days, I have truly enjoyed working with, and for, all of you. Despite the economic struggles we are facing in Bay County and beyond, we have always remained true to our core values. We have never lost faith and have never wavered in our commitment to one another, nor to this unqiue and beautiful place we call home. The road ahead may be difficult, but Bay County will continue to grow and prosper because the people of Bay County never give up without a fight. As your next state representative, I promise that I will never stop fighting for you.
My campaign will focus primarily on the economy, education, health care, and our quality of life. Economic development will be one of my top priorities in Lansing. We need to put people back to work! We need to keep our children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors from having to move out of town or state to make a decent living! We need to keep them in Bay County with good paying jobs that provide access to affordable health care and secure benefits.
As an educator for 30 years, I know first hand the importance of a quality education for our children. We cannot hope to build a successful future if we fail in our basic responsibility to provide our children with the knowledge they need to compete in the world.
My good friend, Senator Jim Barcia, once told me, "To be a strong leader, you must be a good listener". Listening is my best quality; and, I intend to listen to each and every one of you as I attend meetings, participate in community events, and go door to door in the coming weeks and months to talk to you about your plans for Bay County and how I can best serve you as your next 96th District State Representative.
My voice will be your voice in Lansing!
Sincerely,
Charles M. Brunner
